How Bespoke Grants handles grant data

Bespoke Grants combines public records and public opportunity listings to help nonprofits research funders. This page explains what the numbers mean, where the data comes from, and what users should verify.

Foundation and grant records

Foundation profiles and historical grant records are primarily built from electronically filed IRS Form 990-PF returns and grant-recipient schedules. Public totals on the site are rounded and may change as filings are parsed, duplicates are resolved, and new records are added.

Tax filings describe past activity, not current intent. IRS data commonly trails the present by one or more filing cycles, so a foundation's latest priorities, staff, assets, and application rules should always be confirmed with the foundation.

Open opportunities and RFPs

Opportunity listings may come from Grants.gov, SAM.gov, the National Endowment for the Arts, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and public funder websites. Bespoke Grants normalizes these sources so they can be searched together.

Deadlines and eligibility can change. A missing deadline may be shown as rolling only when the source does not provide a fixed date. Before applying, confirm the current status, deadline, award amount, and requirements on the linked source page.

How matching works

Matches use signals such as a nonprofit's mission, programs, geography, budget, requested amount, a funder's stated focus, and its historical giving. A match is a research aid, not a prediction or guarantee of funding. Strong applicants still need to confirm eligibility, relationship requirements, and strategic fit.

Illustrative examples

The sample funder match uses real public funder data with a fictional nonprofit profile. It demonstrates the product's format without representing an actual customer or claiming a funding result.
