NTSAD funds research that accelerates scientific progress toward effective treatments and cures for Tay-Sachs, Canavan, GM1 gangliosidosis, and Sandhoff diseases. The program supports research in clinical trial readiness (biomarker development, patient-centered outcome measures) and advancing therapeutic approaches (gene editing, cell therapy, improved delivery systems). Since 2002, the program has awarded 78 grants totaling over $5 million.
